- I don't want SETMODEM, I want the ZOOM_INF.INF file, is it in the
- zip?
- If not, it doesn't do me anygood. The SETMODEM utilities are crap.
- No
- offense, but it couldn't find but 1 com port, number 3, which when

- disabled my mouse. Manually putting in various port and IRQ
- assignments
- did no better. I followed the instructions to the "t" on my own AND
- with
- tech support. Conculsion, I needed the new INF file.

- Nice if they bothered to put the 800 number in the manual. As I
- couldn't get the modem to work to get to their BBS or WWW site to snag
- it. I spent 45 minutes on my LD call to them last night.

- If he has the modem, he has the garbage setmodem program and help
- file. Well, garbage to me. ANYONE is better off running winprobe (if
- they have it) or check it and finding out what IRQ's are available
- and good candidates for the new modem.
-
- This is my first experience with PnP technology and I am not a happy
- camper about it. I wasn't bitchy to tech support, we had a few
- laughs. However, even a simple thing like putting the INF file in the
- root directory of the REV disk would be a plus. Even tech support
- agreed. At any rate, I love the 'concept' of the ComStar 28.8,
- hopefully I will se it running correctly in a few days. Or sooner, if
- the SETMODEM file at their site contains the updated INF file I need.
-
-
- After 8 years of running ZOOM modems this is the first bad encounter
- I've had. Even with putting 4 modems into one cpu, I never came across
- this sort of thing.
